Lyra is a small constellation in the northern sky, getting its name from the ancient Greek word for lyre. The constellation is commonly associated with Orpheus, a Greek poet and musician, famous for his lyre-playing.

In Greek myth, Orpheus married Eurydice, a dryad (female tree spirit) and the daughter of Apollo. Shortly after their wedding, Eurydice was fatally bitten by a snake. Orpheus couldn't face life without her so with the help of Apollo, he traveled into the underworld to find her. Once there, his music and grief moved Hades and Persephone so deeply they agreed to return Eurydice to the world of living - on the condition that Orpheus walk ahead of her and not look back until they reached the upper world. Once Orpheus had made it to safety, he felt the warmth of the sun on his skin and looked back at Eurydice in delight. Realising his mistake, he tried to reach out for her but was too late and she disappeared, trapped in the underworld forever. Orpheus spent the rest of his life alone, singing constantly of his love for his wife. Upon his eventual death, the Muses placed his lyre in the heavens, forming a constellation.

Rhodolite is the purple-red variety of garnet, getting its name from the Greek word rhodon, meaning rose like. The colours from different rhodolite sources can vary from lavender pink to raspberry red to a purplish violet.
